Weight Loss Evaluations
Did you know that weight loss is more than just diet and exercise?
One or multiple of these tests could be helpful in identifying why you are not losing weight:
1. Testing for digestive enzyme levels: If you do not have the enzymes necessary to break down the food you are eating, this can lead to those nutrients being stored as fat and not broken down and absorbed into the body. If you have tried everything, this is a great place to start!
2. Testing for food sensitivities: if you are sensitive to a food you are eating, this leads to increased inflammation in the body and the inability to digest those nutrients; as well as experiencing bloating, brain fog, back pain, digestive upset and more! Inflammation disrupts your body's ability to heal!
3. Testing the Central Nervous System: You have two states of being: "Rest & Digest" or "Fight or Flight". If your nervous system is in a state of Fight or Flight, you are
NOT digesting your food! This means that those nutrients sit in your gut for too long, causing an increase in fat mass. This test evaluates your stress response, ability to rest, sleep quality, physical fitness score and ability to respond to environmental changes.
4. Test hormone levels: Hormone imbalance is a common factor for people who struggle to lose weight. Your hormones play a huge role in regulating your metabolism. A sluggish metabolism could be another reason for weight gain.
5. Test for environmental toxins: Evaluating the toxic burden on your body is important to your overall functioning. Common toxins are found in specific foods, cookware, containers, gardening soil, cars, skincare, make up, medications, and so much more! The more toxins you have in your body, the harder it is for your organs and systems to function optimally.
6. Gut microbiome testing: The fungus and bacteria in your gut microbiome are considered your second brain because of its communication to your body and organs. Your gut microbiome effects your mood, sleep, energy, irritability, weight gain, skin conditions (acne/rashes), etc.
Using Functional Medicine, your practitioner can order a Full Body Diagnostic Test in order to ultimately replenish nutritional deficiencies, regulate hormone levels, remove toxins, replace enzyme levels, regulate the gut microbiome, restore normal nervous system function, and optimize organ function.
